PPE expert

PPE experts are individuals who acquire knowledge in the area of personal fall protection equipment through a special training course conducted in accordance with DGUV Principle 312‑906 (formerly BGG 906) which covers selecting and training specialists for personal fall protection equipment and issuing respective certificates of competence to these specialists. A PPE expert is sufficiently familiar with the respective provisions, regulations and standards to be able to assess whether the equipment concerned is in a safe working condition and being used correctly.

A training course designed to qualify individuals as PPE experts may include the following agenda items:

  • Anchorage devices according to DIN EN 795
  • Instruction in the use of, monitoring, storage, maintenance and repair of PPE equipment
  • Damage assessment
  • Materials science
  • Tasks and responsibilities of an expert
  • Instruction on how to examine protection equipment
  • Final examination
