What is BIM exactly?
"Building Information Modelling" is a planning technique used in the construction industry to display the technical properties of a building in 3D. For this purpose, a "digital twin" is created before construction begins containing all the required components.
The aim of BIM is to make your project management system more efficient and cost-effective. In many countries, this is already mandatory in the public tender process. Apart from achieving shorter construction times and enabling costs to be more easily calculated, this construction technique offers a range of additional advantages:
- Error prevention: Clashes during the construction process can be immediately detected and alleviated
- Increased productivity: All the involved parties have access to the digital twin and can see the changes immediately
- Technology: CAD geometries contain all the relevant technical information (metadata)
